Aims & Scope
Journal of Business and Tourism Management (JBTM) is an open-access academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, anonymous peer-reviewed (double-blind) research in the fields of business strategy, management, innovation, sustainability, digital marketing, and tourism and hospitality.
The journal aims to foster knowledge exchange among researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, and institutional leaders, promoting the development of innovative solutions and sustainable practices in business and tourism.
JBTM welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and reviews that contribute to advancing theoretical and practical understanding in the areas of:
- Business strategy and management
- Innovation and digital transformation
- Sustainability and responsible management
- Marketing and communication
- Tourism and hospitality
- Policy and governance
JBTM is published twice a year and accepts submissions in English only.
Authors may optionally include a translated version of the title, abstract, and keywords in Spanish. The translated version will appear at the end of the article.
JBTM is published by Meridia Press (G22762447). Place of publication: Alicante, Spain, Europe.
Rapid Publication and Rigorous Review
JBTM follows a rigorous peer-review process while maintaining an efficient editorial workflow to support timely publication of high-quality research.
- Rapid Publication: a first editorial decision is typically provided within 12 days of submission.
- Peer Review: the average time from submission to post-review decision is approximately 55 days.
- Online Publication: accepted papers are usually published online within 10 days after acceptance.
- Acceptance Rate: approximately 30%, reflecting the journal’s commitment to quality and selectivity.
All manuscripts undergo an initial screening and a double-blind peer-review by at least two independent experts. This ensures that JBTM offers both rapid publication and academic rigor, maintaining standards suitable for international indexing and academic recognition.
Indexation: Crossref, Google Scholar and other national and international databases (in progress).
Digital Object Identifier (DOI): All articles published in the JBTM are assigned a DOI registered with Crossref under the prefix 10.64976.
Open Access Policy
JBTM provides immediate open access to all its content, following the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)
This license allows others to share and adapt the work for any purpose, even commercially, as long as proper credit is given to the author(s) and the original source. Authors retain the copyright and full publishing rights without restrictions.
There are currently no Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors.
Publication Ethics
JBTM adheres to the ethical guidelines and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity, transparency, and responsibility in scholarly publishing.
Editorial responsibilities: Editors ensure fair and unbiased peer review decisions.
Author responsibilities: Authors must submit original work, properly cited, and disclose conflicts of interest.
Reviewer responsibilities: Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, and provide constructive feedback.
Plagiarism and misconduct: All manuscripts are checked for plagiarism. Any cases of research misconduct are handled following COPE’s guidelines.
Retractions and corrections: The journal issues retractions or corrections when necessary, in line with COPE standards.
Conflicts of interest: All parties must disclose any conflicts that could affect the impartiality of the work.

Plagiarism Policy
JBTM is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are routinely screened for plagiarism prior to peer review.
The editorial team uses Turnitin to detect textual similarities and ensure the originality of submissions. In addition, manual checks are conducted when necessary.
If plagiarism or research misconduct is identified, the manuscript will be rejected, and appropriate actions may be taken in line with COPE guidelines.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly cited, and do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
Interoperability Policy
JBTM uses the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol to enable interoperability with databases, indexing services, and research repositories. Metadata can be harvested from the following endpoint:

The journal applies international interoperability standards such as Dublin Core for metadata description and ensures full accessibility for automated harvesting systems.
Archiving and Preservation Policy
JBTM ensures the long-term preservation of its published content through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This guarantees that all articles remain accessible even in the event that the journal ceases to operate. For more information, visit PKP Preservation Network
Repository Policy
Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit published versions of their articles in institutional or other repositories of their choice. Self-archiving is allowed without embargo, in accordance with the journal’s open access policy (CC BY license).
